Jammu, Dec 10 (KNO): Stating that the Jammu air terminal was among the least affected during the recent nationwide IndiGo flight disruptions, Jammu Airport Director Devender Yadav on Wednesday said flight operations at the airport remain fully stable.
Addressing a press briefing at the Jammu Airport Conference Hall, Director Yadav, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said, “All stakeholders worked in very close coordination to ensure uninterrupted facilitation and smooth movement of passengers, during recent IndiGo disruptions.”
He said, “Flight operations at Jammu Airport have been stabilised and the airport remained least affected during the recent IndiGo flight cancellations and delays occurring at various airports nationwide.”
The Director said that the Airports Authority of India staff, CISF, airlines, ground-handling teams, ‘May I Help You’ desks and housekeeping staff played a key role in maintaining seamless operations.
He also said special assistance was provided to senior citizens, children, pregnant women and passengers with reduced mobility. “Ad-hoc seating was arranged in various areas and station managers of concerned airlines were instructed to remain present for direct supervision,” the Director added.
Highlighting the focus on hygiene, Director Yadav said additional housekeeping staff were deployed, toilet cleaning frequency was increased and supervisors were instructed to intensify monitoring across the terminal. “All food and beverage outlets were directed to maintain sufficient supplies and remain operational throughout flight handling hours to ensure no disruption in passenger services,” he added.
Housekeeping teams, the director said, ensured the overall cleanliness of washrooms, common areas and terminal premises, maintaining a high level of hygiene.
He said IndiGo’s reservation counters remained fully manned to assist passengers with bookings, refunds and flight adjustments. “Hotel accommodation was provided to passengers affected by flight cancellations and refreshments to those delayed, as part of the airline’s facilitation measures,” Yadav said.
“Full refunds have been processed for all cancelled flights, ensuring passengers did not face any financial inconvenience,” he said.
The Director said that information sharing was prompt and transparent, with passengers being informed via SMS, public announcements and display systems about any delays, cancellations, or changes in flight status. “The most important thing is that at Jammu Airport, there was no law and order issue, no security incident and no medical emergency reported during this period,” he said.
He said that no baggage was left behind and the airport staff continuously engaged with passengers to collect feedback and resolve concerns on the spot. “Despite the disruptions at other airports, operations of all airlines at Jammu Airport remained normal,” he said. “We recorded zero stranded aircraft, zero stranded passengers and maintained normal operations throughout.”
Director Yadav also said that under the directions of the Honourable Minister of Civil Aviation, the airport ensured adequate seating, drinking water, food availability, hygiene of washrooms, medical support and sensitive handling of aggrieved passengers. “Through coordination and teamwork among all stakeholders, we ensured no crowding or congestion in the airport premises,” the Director said—(KNO)
